News of the day in so many words: Liverpool stadium delays, teen dies in reservoir and passeneger lounges now open

Published on June 5th 2009.

THE MOTORCYCLIST who smashed into the back of an unmarked police car has died. The collision happened on the A570 Rainford Bypass just before 18:00 on Tuesday, with the driver of the police car unharmed but “treated for shock”. The incident has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

LIVERPOOL FC's parent company has sustained a loss of £42.6m, leading to the delay of the club's new stadium. Tom Hicks's and George Gillet's company is said to have lost £36m because of the money they had to make to pay the debt taken on to purchase Liverpool FC in 2007. Seeking “funding to complete the project”, the stadium is expected to be completed in 2012.

THE DEATH of a teenager in Warrington has led to the emergency services issuing a warning about the dangers of swimming in reservoirs. Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service have been called out to rescue a number of youngsters who get into difficulties in the water, with the teenager dying on Tuesday at Walton Reservoir. Strong undercurrents that aren't visibly evident are the cause of “pulling even the strongest swimmer under”.

LIME STREET STATION has opened its £3.4m passenger lounges to communters. Following the arrival of platforms eight and seven, the lounges have been a combined venture between Network Rail, transport authority Merseyrail and operator Virgin Trains. Passengers have been “praised” for their patience during the disruptive two year project; the lounges boasting an information office, cash points and three shop units.

In case you didn't notice Smudger one of the deaths is a teen from Warrington & the other doesn't say where he's from. Just that it was on The Rainford bypass. I guess those points bypassed your attention. Talk about inbred......
