THE RULES OF WORD GAME SCRABBLE are being changed for the first time in its history to allow the use of proper nouns, games company Mattel has said.

Place names, people's names and company names or brands will now count.

Mattel hopes the change will encourage younger people to play.

EATING FIVE PORTIONS OF FRUIT and vegetables a day may not reduce your risk of cancer significantly, a study has found, despite official guidelines.

For every extra two portions consumed the risk of cancer reduced by just three per cent, the research conducted by a team at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, in New York suggested.

AN AIRPORT WORKER WHO HELPED two women lift the body of a dead relative from a taxi, before they tried to check him in for a flight, said he knew he was dead.

Gitta Jarant and Anke Anusic tried to check in the body of Curt Willi Jarant for a flight to Berlin at Liverpool John Lennon Airport on Saturday.

They said they thought the 91-year-old, who was wearing sunglasses and was in a wheelchair, was asleep.

Andrew Millea said the man's face fell against his, and it was "ice cold".

"I knew straight away that the man was dead, but they reassured me that he 'always sleeps like that'," he said.

LIBDEM LEADER NICK CLEGG launches the party's North West manifesto in Liverpool this afternoon. Meanwhile, the Conservative party candidate for the constituency, Andrew Garnett, admits it will take a “minor miracle” for him to win the constituency in the upcoming General Election.
