SEFTON COUNCIL’S FINANCE DIRECTOR, who was suspended after allegations he had inappropriate images on his mobile phone, has left his job, taking a pay off believed to run into tens of thousands of pounds.
Paul Edwards was put on gardening leave following a complaint about “inappropriate images” and “inappropriate behaviour”.
An investigation has been dropped after Sefton Council agreed a deal with Mr Edwards to retire from his post as part of a cost saving restructure. His pension will not be affected.
A MASKED GANG, ARMED WITH SLEDGEHAMMERS attempted to force their way into Boodles, in Lord Street, just after 10am yesterday in front of a crowd of shoppers. Four men in balaclavas tried to get through the front door, but after finding it locked, started smashing three windows. Police said they got away with one high-end watch and some jewellery.

A MAN WHOSE LEG WAS TRAPPED IN BETWEEN LIFT’S DOORS in the Radisson SAS Hotel had to be rescued by firefighters last night.
The emergency service came to the rescue after receiving a call that the man was stuck on the ground floor of the hotel on Old Hall Street.
