LIVERPOOL’S £12BN WEALTH MANAGEMENT industry is the biggest outside London, according to a new independent report.
The city pipped Edinburgh and Manchester as the “second city” of wealth management, in the ComPeer survey of 148 private banks, private client investment managers and stockbrokers.
The report, produced for Professional Liverpool, showed that the city accounted for £121m in revenue and managed £11.6bn of assets, with Manchester managing £10.7bn and Edinburgh £10.6bn.
THE TWO CHRISTIAN HOTELIERS cleared last year of insulting a Muslim guest are being forced to sell up because their business has collapsed. Ben and Sharon Vogelenzang are putting their nine-bedroom Bounty hotel, in |Aintree, up for auction in May because they can no longer pay the mortgage.
Despite donations sent to them by Christian supporters from around the world, they still have debts of well over £400,000.
THE NEW £451M ROYAL LIVERPOOL HOSPITAL was today given Government approval.
Health secretary Andy Burnham officially gave the go ahead for the development which he said would help Liverpool "lead the way" in North West healthcare.
The new hospital will have single en-suite rooms throughout, a garden the size of the Albert Dock and a separate A&E entrance.
A MAN IN HIS EARLY TWENTIES was taken to hospital with a fractured jaw, cheek and nose in what appears to have been a late-night assault in the city centre.
He was found by police in Seel Street, near Pogue Mahone's pub, in the early hours of Sunday morning. As yet he has been unable to give a full account of events.
