LIVERPOOL'S ‘EYE’ IS TAKING SHAPE and could possibly open tomorrow, after contractors worked around throughout the day yesterday. The 60m high, 365-tonne wheel, a smaller version of the London Eye, will take its passengers on a 15-minute ride that should offer spectacular views of the city. The Liverpool One Wheel will be running until 31 January, and tickets cost £6 each.
MERSEYRAIL MAY ADD MORE TRAINS to its Liverpool network to help boost rush-hour capacity. The operator is struggling to cope with rising passenger numbers and wants to run as many six-carriage trains as possible, and is in talks with Angel Trains, which owns and leases Merseyrail’s current fleet. If agreed, the rolling stock of three more three-car units will be taken from London’s Underground.
