SEFTON Council's finance director, Paul Edwards, has been suspended following allegations he had “inappropriate images” on his mobile phone.
Yesterday an investigation got under way, led by council officers, following the complaint which also included “inappropriate behaviour”.
A spokesman for Merseyside Police said the force had been made aware of the council investigation but had not, at this stage, received a formal complaint.
HALF of Liverpool’s 15-17-year-old girls regularly use sunbeds– the highest level in England.
It's widely agreed that using sunbeds increases the risk of developing malignant melanoma, the most dangerous form of skin cancer.
A study, carried out by Cancer Research UK, also found that 20 per cent of 11-17-year-olds in the city have used sunbeds, compared to a national average of 6 per cent. More than two in five of these youngsters use them at least once a week.
THE ONE-TIME BEATLES’ DRUMMER Pete Best performed to 250,000 fans in Delhi as part of a campaign by Merseytravel and The Beatles Story to bring more tourists from the sub-continent to Liverpool. Madras-born Best played while the original Beatles Madame Tussauds waxworks were set up in the middle of India’s capital city. Eight of the major TV channels and all the country’s national newspapers covered the event.
KEN LOACH HAS BEEN IN LIVERPOOL TO FILM his new Iraq movie, Route Irish. The 72-year-old film-maker has shot the scenes, about the aftermath of the war, at locations including, Liverpool’s Malmaison hotel, the Merseyside Dance Initiative on Hope Street, and the River Mersey. The film is due for release next year.
