LIVERPOOL BOAT SHOW WILL BE STAGED ANNUALLY, organisers have said. Council officials told boating industry bosses that the festival will be the most stylish the industry has ever seen, with more than 400,000 visitors descending on the city’s historic waterfront. Delegates were told by Liverpool Liverpool council chief executive Colin Hilton, “There is such an appetite for all things nautical in Liverpool.” The first show will be in spring 2011.

POLICE HAVE VOWED to take stronger action against the underground culture of dog fighting and illegal breeding still present on Merseyside.

The announcement comes four days after the tragic pitbull killing of John Paul Massey, four, in Wavertree, and the arrest of Christian Foulkes, 21, John Paul’s uncle, on suspicion of manslaughter.

GAY CLUB G BAR HAS LAUNCHED KICKBOXING classes following the attack on an off-duty gay police officer.

About 15 people turned up to the first of the free sessions backed by police.

Neil James, promotions manager, said: "After the recent spate of homophobic beatings I decided enough was enough. I spoke with kickboxing champion Brendon Mitty and it’s been excellent – a great start.”

Classes are every Thursday from 7-8.30pm.
