THE RELICS OF a saint are due to arrive inLiverpool. Regarded as the “greatest saint in modern times”, a casket containing part of the remains of St Therese of Lisieux will arrive in Kent before visiting Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral from 24th - 25th September. Suffering from tuberculosis, aged 24 in 1897, the French Carmelite nun became famous after her death following the publication of her autobiography, The Story of a Soul, which has been translated into 50 languages and read by millions.

A LIVERPOOL FILMMAKER ARRESTED for a second time while on a round-the-world charity trip has made contact with his family.

Graham Hughes, 30, is being held without charge in Brazzaville, the capital of the Republic of Congo, after going to the city as part of a challenge

to travel to the UN's 192 member states by public transport. His brother Alex said: "He didn't sound good at all and we are terrified for him."

TWO RARE GRAVY BOATS have fetched £41,000 in Warrington. The gravy boats were found at the back of a cupboard in an elderly woman's house in Culcheth, and were sold to a bidder from London.

Nick Hall, of Frank Marshall auctioneers, said, "Porcelain of that age and quality is extremely rare."

POLICE HAVE BEGUN A MURDER INVESTIGATION after an 18-year-old was fatally injured. Merseyside Police said the victim, who is from Kirkdale, went to the Royal Liverpool University Hospital yesterday lunchtime with a chest wound and was treated by staff, but later died.
