AN ABUSIVE PARAMEDIC has been told he “failed a patient” and has been struck off. Jason Sefton described a diabetic woman who collapsed on a bus as "drunk", then swore at the bus driver who raised the alarm in December 2007. A Health Professions Council disciplinary hearing ruled that his actions constituted misconduct, The panel ruled Mr Sefton should be struck-off, saying, “He clearly knew what he was doing and intended to do it”.
CHESTER’S ROMAN WALLS are being rebuilt after collapsing over a year ago. Archaeologists have begun work on the 30m section of the Roman walls, near to the Grosvenor Hotel. The restoration is expected to take between eight and 12 months. A Cheshire West and Chester Council spokesperson said the restoration “will help us understand how it was built in the first place”.
FIREFIGHTERS WILL GO ON STRIKE in support of a colleague who was sacked after an alleged assault. Kevin Hughes was accused of attacking the son of a colleague in July 2008. No charges were brought after the police investigated the incident. In a Fire Brigades' Union ballot 425 out of 652 members voted in favour of industrial action over the issue.
SEVEN PEOPLE HAVE BEEN ARRESTED after two men were stabbed during a street brawl in Kirkdale. A 34-year-old man suffered stab wounds and head injuries, a second man was knifed in the back and a woman, 39, suffered minor injuries during the incident on Goodall Street. Seven men are being held in custody.
