A MAN has been shot in a takeaway in Greater Manchester. The shooting took place on Saturday night in the China Garden takeaway on Chester Road, Stretford. It is believed that the shooting happened after two men, one holding a gun, ran into the takeaway and a number of shots were fired. The 20-year-old man was taken to hospital where he is being treated in intensive care.
A MURDER CHARGE against a 39-year-old man accused of stabbing a Burnley student outside his home in Hulme, has been dropped. Prosecutors claim that following new evidence there is no realistic prospect of a conviction. Phil Burke, Chair of Manchester Village Association, has stated that people are dismayed and angered at this latest result.
TESCO has won the formal award of ‘the company that most ignores opinions of local communities.’ This has come about following a clash with local residents in Chorlton and South Manchester over a proposed Tesco Express on Manchester Road, Chorlton. Debbie Clarke, of the campaign group, said, “We are presenting the award to show how strongly we feel about this issue. We're sending the clear message that Chorlton has said No to Tesco.”
WAYNE ROONEY has said the 2-0 win over Reading was his hardest game of the season. The Reds striker said: “You have to give Reading a lot of credit. They attacked us and it was an end-to-end game – probably the most difficult I’ve played in this season. We got there in the end and we’re delighted.”
