HERE's a new service from Confidential - we're bringing you interesting and relevant public notices that affect Manchester and its people.

We'll be publishing planning applications, so you know who's building what; licensing applications, so you you get the heads up on any new bars and restaurants being planned; and police reports and appeals, so you can stay safe.

We'll also be using this section to publish council reports, white papers and strategy documents affecting the city's regeneration and development.

These are purely for your information and delivered without opinion. They're just facts. We hope you'll find it useful.

Planning applications:

Police notices:

A man is in a serious condition after being found with stab wounds in Bolton town centre.  At about 12.40am on Wednesday 13 July 2011, police were called to Crown Street, following reports of a stabbing.  Officers attended and found that a 34-year-old man suffered stab wounds to his chest, neck and both of his legs. His condition is described as being serious but stable.  A 30-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and remains in police custody.

Five people have been arrested after a man was stabbed in Hyde.  At about 7.30am on Sunday 14 August 2011, police were called to Talbot Road following reports a 20-year-old man had been stabbed in the neck.  Following the attack, the victim phoned an ambulance as he went out into the street, where he was found and helped by a passer-by.  Police officers attended and gave the man first aid until paramedics arrived. He was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition. Five men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remain in police custody for questioning.

Good idea for a regular article. More so the applications than the police notices but maybe they're of interest to others.

Can you provide a laymans translation for some of these in future eg what is class A1 use? etc
