A SHOOTING took place in Fallowfield last night, leaving two boys injured. Police were called to Lloyd Street South at 9.30pm after reports that shots had been fired from a car. A 15-year-old boy was taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary with a leg injury. A 12-year-old boy, believed to be an innocent bystander, was taken to hospital with a graze to his leg.
MILK DELIVERY prices in Manchester are to rise. A worldwide shortage and a bleak summer means the price of having milk delivered to your doorstep will be pushed up by around five pence. Carl Hudspith, spokesman for the National Farmers' Union in the north west, said: “It will be British farmers who will get the money from these increases because they are the source of the supply which meets the demand."
THE SEX PISTOLS have added an additional Manchester date to their impending reunion tour. Original members John Lydon, Steve Jones, Paul Cook and Glen Matlock will now also be performing on Saturday 17 November at the MEN Arena. Tickets for the extra show will go on sale at 9am on Friday 28 September.
GEORGIOS SAMARAS led Manchester City to a 1-0 Carling Cup victory last night over Norwich. Samaras, who is widely regarded as a ‘forgotten man’ at Eastlands won over fans by netting a last-minute goal. Manager Sven Goran Eriksson said: “I am very happy for him. He told me in August that he planned to fight for his place and that's what he's done.”
