THASKIN Shinawatra's right to own Manchester City is being questioned following Human Rights Watch (HRW) claims that he is ‘a human rights abuser of the worst kind’. The HRW say he should not have passed the leagues ‘fit and proper person’ test despite charges against him having never been proven. The ex-Thai prime minister denies the allegations.
THE ARCTIC MONKEYS gig at Old Trafford has been deemed ‘an absolute shambles’ by some angry fans. The sell out show at Lancashire County Cricket Club has been described as a cattle market with inadequate bar and toilet facilities. A Lancashire Cricket Club spokesperson said: “We accept there were problems with the organisation of the Saturday event, but most of the problems had been resolved in time for the second event on Sunday.”
A WORSLEY PUB could be shut down after fed-up locals secretly filmed drunken customer antics such as setting a toilet roll on fire and using it as a flaming football. This will be the second time the Bridgewater Hotel has been filmed by the Worsley Community Village Association in a bid to get the pub’s licence revoked. The film is due to be shown to Salford council's licensing panel in September.
ALAN SMITH is set to join Newcastle United after United sealed a £6m transfer deal for the striker. The transfer is expected to go ahead this week despite Smiths reluctance to leave Old Trafford. The move will make way for the arrival of Argentinian striker Carlos Tevez over the summer.
