Flood warnings for Didsbury and Manchester lets the bedbugs bite

Published on July 5th 2007.

A WOMAN, who was falsely given an Anti Social Behaviour order (Asbo) has won £2000 compensation from Manchester City Council. A neighbour reported in 2004 that the woman had threatened, intimidated, verbally abused her and played her music too loudly. A report by the Local Government Ombudsman found that the woman was never made aware of the allegations before being served with the Asbo. Ombudsman Jerry White said: "This was an abuse of nightmarish proportions."

BEDBUGS have infested Manchester, making it the bedbug capital of Britain. Rentokil pest controllers have seen a 179% increase in calls about infestations in the city. Foreign travel and second-hand beds and bedding have contributed to the dramatic rise. Symptoms of the pests in humans include skin bites and blood spots.

DIDSBURY and Flixton areas are in danger of flooding after the Met Office confirmed that the UK suffered the wettest June since 1914. The Environment Agency warns that South Manchester areas at risk include parts of the River Mersey covering Flixton Road, Withington Golf Course, Sale Water Park and Chorlton Water Park.

UNITED have signed Carlos Tevez in a £20m deal, according to reports. The signing, which is due to be completed next week, could still be challenged by his current club West Ham, who insist that they currently own the Argentinian's registration. Real Madrid, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal were also linked with Tevez, who joined the Hammers last summer and played a key role in keeping the team in the Premiership last season.
