PANACEA boss, Joe Akka has been released early from jail. The club owner, who was convicted of attacking a customer in April, has served a third of his sentence. It is believed Akka will be able to return to his role at Panacea as his curfew can be adjusted around his working hours. Greater Manchester Police are looking into this matter and the licensing department will also be investigating it.
A MAN has been injured in a drive-by shooting in the beer garden of Arch bar on Stretford Road, Hulme last night. In yet another weekend of shootings, the 25-year-old was wounded in his leg and stomach in the family beer garden. People fled with their children as machine gun shots were fired. Shots were also fired at a car in a separate incident in Levenshulme on Saturday. No one was hurt.
CITY OWNER Thaksin Shinawatra held a free concert on Saturday night to mark his arrival to the club. Manager, Sven-Goran Eriksson and the rest of the squad joined Shinawatra for the Thailand themed party in Albert Square. In his first major public appearance since last year, crowds of 5000 were entertained by Shinawatra’s rendition of ‘Blue Moon’ as well as a performance from Thai singer Mai Charoenpura.
MANCHESTER UNITED meanwhile triumphed at Wembley over their bogey team, Chelsea. The Reds won 3-0 after penalties following a 1-1 draw after ninety minutes. Ryan Giggs, in his eighteenth season in the first team, scored United’s goal in the 35th minute.
