A 13-YEAR-OLD boy was shot over the weekend as he cycled through Moss Side. The teenager, from Longsight, had been at a party in Moss Side before the incident happened. He is now in a stable condition in hospital and is not thought to have suffered any life-threatening injuries.
SIAM ORCHID Thai restaurant and karaoke bar on Portland Street was in flames on Saturday night after a fire in one of the store rooms. Over 30 fire fighters tackled the blaze following reports of smoke billowing from the ground floor. Fire fighters managed to stop the fire from spreading.
IAN BROWN is set to play a series of live gigs as part of a prison tour. The former Stone Roses singer served four months in Strangeways back in 1998 after a row with an air steward. The 44-year-old now plans to do a jail tour which will include Preston where he served two weeks of his sentence. He has not yet confirmed whether HMP Manchester will be included in the schedule.
ENGLAND’S rugby union players have returned home from Paris following their World Cup final defeat on Saturday. In his last game for England, Sale captain, Jason Robinson suffered a dislocated shoulder early in the second half of the match. He said: “It was a sad way to finish. I wanted to play the 80 minutes and try to make a difference but it wasn't to be. It's disappointing, but such is life. Someone joked that it’s a career-ending injury.”
