SHOCK JOB CUTS announced by Manchester Airport will see 188 baggage handlers made redundant before Christmas. Ringway Handling Services have lost a number of large contracts and have been operating at a loss, forcing them to reduce the size of their business. Trade Union, Unite, are opposing these job cuts.
OBSESSIVE KILLER Harmohinder Sanghera begins her life sentence today after being convicted of murdering 17-year-old Sana Ali. Sanghera was desperate to marry Sana's husband Sair Ali after a passionate two-year love affair. She murdered the pregnant teenager the day after sitting her final exams at university. After tricking her way into Sana's home, Sanghera stabbed her 43 times in a attack using a seven inch kitchen knife. She was found guilty by 11:1 majority verdict at Manchester Crown Court.
MORRISSEY is suing the NME music magazine for defamation. The NME reported in an article that Morrissey feels the UK is losing it's national identity because of immigration. Tom Jonze the journalist who did the interview emailed Morrissey’s management, stating that "virtually none of it [the article] is my words or beliefs, so I asked for my name to be taken out of it."
A BIDDING war over Nicolas Anelka might arise, now that Sir Alex Ferguson has registered interest in the Bolton Wanderers star. Sven Goran Eriksson of Manchester City is said to admire the occasionally troublesome but pacy French striker. However Anelka has said that neither club has approached him with regard to a transfer window move in January.
