A WOMAN from West Gorton has been sent to prison for 12 months and banned from keeping animals after letting her dog starve to death. Janice Paton, 39, moved out of the house when the dog became ill with diarrhoea, leaving it behind to starve to death. She was found guilty of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal. A neighbour said he had seen Paton dragging the dog outside and putting it in the bin.
TOWN HALL solicitor, Ged Towney has been driving an untaxed car for three years, according to reports. Mr Towney who now works for Salford council has been told on two occasions to get a new tax disc, but has ignored warnings. The Renault is currently being held by police and is expected to be crushed.
FRAUDSTERS who conned an elderly woman out of money, have been caught on camera. The men demanded £660 off the 81-year-old after telling her she needed to pay for the fence panels in her garden. Staff at her bank became concerned about why she was drawing out such a large amount of money and alerted police who then installed cameras.
LANCASHIRE is only one win away from County Championship victory thanks to a nine wicket win over Warwickshire yesterday. Manager Mike Watkinson said: “The one thing that we have got is the confidence of knowing that we have won a couple of games on the bounce. We have certainly got momentum in our favour, having won the last two games.”
