LIAM GALLAGHER has announced details of his first live shows with his new group Beady Eye. The newly formed band will release their debut album in 2011 and play at the Manchester Apollo on 6 and 7 March 2011. Other band members are Gem Archer, Andy Bell and Chris Sharrock. SAFEGUARD CHILDREN SAYS OFSTED: The education watchdog has reported causes for concern when it comes to the safe guard of children in 10 local authorities this year. Warrington and Salford featured on the national list of authorities deemed inadequate. Problems included ‘high caseloads, overuse of agency staff and inexperienced staff and turbulence in front-line teams’ according to the annual report.
MANCHESTER DAY THEME FOR 2011 will be ‘A Voyage of Discovery’ according to Manchester City Council. The parade will take place on 19 June 2011 and is expected, once again, to attract thousands of people. Coun Mike Amesbury said: “The first Manchester Day exceeded all our expectations and plans are well underway for the 2011 celebrations.” To take part in the parade next year, fill in the online application form here.The deadline for applications is January 31.
HAPPY MONDAYS’ BEZ SKIPS BAIL: Mark Berry - also known as Bez from the band Happy Mondays –was arrested at London’s Euston Station on Tuesday after failing to answer bail. He was arrested by officers who charged him with breaching a restraining order and trespassing on a railway.
