MAN ARRESTED ON SUSPICION OF MURDER: Police were called to Fernley Avenue in Denton, Tameside just after midnight last night after paramedics discovered the body of a 36-year-old woman. The GMP have ordered a post-mortem examination to be carried out in order to determine the cause of death with a 41-year-old man remaining in custody after his arrest.
EX-UNITED PLAYER ARRESTED: Former Manchester United and West Bromwich Albion player Ronnie Wallwork, 33, has been arrested in connection to offences relating to stolen cars. Along with Siobhan Johnston, 34, he has been charged with concealing criminal property. They are both due to appear in court in Preston on 31 January.
COLLAPSED WOMAN VICTIM OF THEFT: Lindsay Plumb, 47, collapsed in an alleyway off Hampson Street in Sale in the early hours of last Friday morning before later dying at Wythenshawe hospital. As she lay on the ground after collapsing, it is believed that thieves saw her and stole her handbag. Detective Inspector Frank Morris, of GMP, said he would be “absolutely appalled” if this was the case.
METROLINK EXPANSION PLANS: Cheshire East Council has said that Manchester’s Metrolink tram routes could extend as far as Chester. The specially modified trams would run on a railway line between Altrincham and Chester. The Greater Manchester Integrated Transport Authority has said that they want to meet with transport ministers to discuss more tram train rail services. A Cheshire link is badly needed according to John Oates, Chairman of the Mid Cheshire Rail Users Association.
