CIVIL SERVICE CAMPUS PLAN GOES ON DISPLAY AT PICCADILLY. With a view to regenerate the area, the proposals for a 20-acre base for 5,000 civil servants in the Mayfield area of the city would also include a new public park. Sir Richard Leese, leader of Manchester City Council, said, “People will now have a chance to look at these plans and what they will mean for the Piccadilly area and the city as a whole."

NO MORE HOT MEALS FOR UNITED STAFF, who have had their usual grub replaced with sandwiches in an effort to save money. The staff, who traditionally received a hot meal and fizzy drink, have also been banned from helping themselves to leftover programmes and discarded corporate hospitality gifts. A United spokesman said: “We stopped providing hot meals several months ago, although staff who work on matchdays will still get a meal.”

EXTENDED CITY CENTRE ROADWORKS CAUSES MISERY FOR DRIVERS as Deansgate becomes one-way from Liverpool Road to Whitworth Street West. Set to last for six weeks, motorists coming from the Mancunian Way are being advised to use Dawson Street and the inner relief ring road. The council is said to be monitoring the situation and will make alterations if required.

COLD SNAP’S LEGACY TO COST COUNCIL AT LEAST £650K after thousands of potmarks and holes have appeared in the city’s roads. Council leader Sir Richard Leese has insisted taxpayers’ bills will not rise despite the extra repair work caused by the heavy snow and plummeting temperatures.

What is it with roadworks in Deansgate!? Thought we'd just finished with the last lot!

I think they only suspended the roadworks at Christmas, so it's the same roadworks. They're back on Miller St as well for a couple of weeks.
