GAS EXPLOSION IN IRLAM: Ten people are injured and others are still believed to be trapped in debris after a suspected gas explosion on Silver Street. One house has been completely destroyed and up to four others have been badly damaged in the blast which happened at 7am this morning. A National Grid helpline for people concerned about the incident can be contacted on 0800 111 999.

ANOTHER GAS EXPLOSION AT A DENTIST: A gas explosion also took place yesterday at Northwich dental practice on Middlewich Road, Rudheath. There were no reports of any injuries, however the dental practice suffered significant structural damage.

SELFRIDGES OFFERS £10K TO FRANK SIDEBOTTOM FAMILY: Selfridges has upset fans of the late Chris Sievey – the man behind Frank Sidebottom –by using similar mannequins to the character in the window of their London store. The store has now offered £10,000 to Sievey’s estate. A Selfridges spokesman added: “We will ensure that a suitable acknowledgement is made to Mr Sievey's work in our window displays and in-store."

THE NARROWEST HOUSE IN BRITAIN: Plans to build Britain’s narrowest detached house have been approved for a second time. The three-storey house is set to be built in a 14ft gap between two houses in Allanson Road, Northenden. The developer claimed the recession stalled the project but they now have until February 2012 to develop the empty plot. One of the neighbours who won’t be able to access the side of her house says she will now seek legal advice.

Out of the window weather forecast: Grow a Movember moustache for charity but also to keep your upper lip warm.
