JOURNALIST LUKE BAINBRIDGE has drafted in friends Peter Hook, Mike Joyce and Badly Drawn Boy to “liven up” his music tour of the city. The tour is part of the The Guardian and Observer's Enjoy England series and takes place on Saturday 24 April. Bainbridge said: “I managed to pull in a few favours and get some special guests. They will all be meeting us at locations which have played an important part in their story.”
THE DEATH OF A CANADIAN TOURIST found in a canal near Trafford Park is being treated as "unexplained". Anthony Muise, 53, was found on 24 February with a puncture wound in his chest. He arrived in the UK in June 2009 and was living in hostels and hotels. Police are appealing for information concerning the mystery death.
CORONATION STREET'S JASON GRIMSHAW left the scene of an accident – via taxi - after fans began taking photographs of him. Celebrity lawyer Nick Freeman, aka Mr Loophole, told Manchester Magistrates Court that 25-year-old Ryan Thomas felt “intimidated”. He was fined £2,020 and ordered to pay £50 costs.
