HATTON SETTLES WAGES CLAIM: Boxer Ricky Hatton has settled a £1.4m claim for unpaid wages from his former trainer Billy Graham. Graham was suing Hatton for money he claimed he was owed after being sacked in 2008, however both parties reached an undisclosed deal on the third day of a hearing at Manchester's Civil Justice Centre.
FACEBOOK STABBER JAILED: Cameron Schofield, 17, has been jailed for life after stabbing Cody Turner, 17, to death in a row over a comment that was made on social networking site, Facebook. The fatal stabbing took place after a fight broke out at a house on Tonge Moor Road in Bolton on 22 April. Senior Investigating Officer Andrew Tattersall said: "This was a minor misunderstanding which got tragically out-of-hand.”
CORRIE CRASH HOAX 999 CALLER: A hoax call was made to the emergency services on Monday evening, reporting the Coronation Street tram crash scene as a real-life accident. The caller told the operator: “A tram's come over the top of the thing and smashed down on to the nightclub and shops....Rita’s stuck in the shop.” Police are trying to trace the prank caller. click here to listen to the call.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE VIGIL: Dozens of people are expected to gather in the Peace Gardens at 5pm on Friday to remember victims of domestic abuse. The vigil will mark the end of a 16 day Greater Manchester campaign called End the Fear. Greater Manchester Police receive more than 17,000 calls relating to domestic abuse each year.
