SEX TRAFFICERS JAILED: A Romanian father and son have been jailed on charges of trafficking at Manchester Crown Court. Bogdan and Marius Nejloveanu, aged 51 and 23, were found to have trafficked women into England and forced them into working as prostitutes. Their five victims were promised work as cleaners but were abused and made to work in brothels.

CROWN AND CUSHION PUB TO GO: At a city debate Confidential listened to important £800m redevelopment of the Cooperative Group. Then we asked if the plans couldn’t include the Crown and Cushion pub, it is after all, a fine building with one of the oldest licences (1741) in Manchester. David Pringle, Investment Director at Cooperative Group said: “in a development of this scale there have to be some unfortunate casualties”. That’s the coffin finally nailed closed then for a classic Holts pub.

TALK TALK JOB CUTS: Workers for Telecoms company Talk Talk are unsure of their future at the company after plans were announced to cut 580 administration jobs. Nearly 13% of the 4,500 strong workforce will have their positions cut but customer-facing staff will be relatively unaffected. Staff in South Manchester, Warrington and Preston will be affected.

MORE STUDENT PROTESTS: The National of Students and the TUC have organised a march in Manchester on Saturday 29 January. Between 6,000 and 14,000 protestors are expected at a static rally in Platt Fields Park. Crowds are expected to gather outside University Place on Oxford Road before heading towards the park at 11.30am.

Out of the window weather forecast: It’s grey, cold and cloudy. Enjoy.
