ELBOW frontman Guy Garvey gave the name of the band’s latest album away in a drunken appearance on BBC 6music. The singer said he was ‘in terrible trouble’ with his record company after telling Marc Riley the album would be called Build A Rocket, Boys! “I got drunk and announced on air the title of the album, under the influence of old mild Guinness,” he said. "You can't really keep secrets from Elbow fans anyway. They find things out."

UP TO 200 firefighters and 100 back office staff could to lose their jobs across Greater Manchester over the next three years, due to government spending cuts. The fire service said the number of emergency call outs had dropped by half in the past few years and there would be no mass sackings.

FORMER Manchester City chairman David Bernstein is set to take over as the new chairman of the Football Association. Bernstein spent nine years on the board at City and five a chairman, securing the move to Eastlands. He left over what he considered excessive spending demands by the club’s then manager, Kevin Keegan.

A DRUG DEALER from Harpurhey has been ordered to pay back £32,000 of the money he made illegally. Lee Anderson's house has been repossessed and he may also lose his BMW M5 car. Anderson was sentenced to nine years in prison and he now has six months to pay up or potentially face a further 15 months in jail – and still give the money back.
