PICK UP AFTER YOUR DOG: A toddler who fell in dog dirt in Platt Fields Park and then wiped her eye, may have lost partial sight in one of her eyes. The two year-old was treated for toxocariasis – a disease which can lead to blindness - at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital. Her mother said: “Dog owners are responsible for their dog's mess and they've got to realise that it can wreck lives.”
GET YOUR HOSE OUT: The North West hosepipe ban has been lifted following weeks of wet weather. The ban was put in place after United Utilities recorded the region’s driest start to a year since records began in 1929. Richard Blackwell from United Utilities said: “The ban is no longer required to safeguard essential supplies.”
CARE FOR A PET HEN? North West charity, the British Hen Welfare Trust, has saved thousands of former battery hens across the region by finding them adoptive homes. The Trust takes the hens at the end of their egg laying life and finds them new owners who keep them as pets in their homes, gardens and allotments. BLOOD FOUND IS HUMAN: A pool of blood found near a bridge around the area of Pownall Park in Wilmslow yesterday is human, police have said. Further tests will now be carried out to DNA profile the blood, but police say they do not know if an accident or "something sinister" has taken place.
Put of the window weather forecast: A beautiful day. Your adoptive hens can play out in the sun.
