CHINATOWN STABBINGS TRIAD GANG RELATED: Four men have been arrested in relation to stabbings which took place after alleged rival Triad gangs clashed on George Street, Chinatown. Police believe up to 20 men were involved in the violence in the early hours of Wednesday. Six men were taken to hospital with stab wounds and one 32-year-old man remains in a critical condition.
ANOTHER GEORGE STREET, ANOTHER SHOOTING: A man is seriously ill in hospital after he was shot in the thigh on George Street South in the Broughton Park area of Salford. Two men aged 32 and 36 have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and are due to be questioned by detectives. The 23-year-old is said to be in a serious but stable condition in hospital.
DANNY BOYLE TO DIRECT 2012 OLYMPIC OPENING: Radcliffe-born Boyleis to be artistic director of the opening ceremony for the 2012 Olypmic Games in London. The Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire director, was asked to be part of a team of creative producers for the games who will oversee the showpiece opening and closing ceremonies at each of the Olympic and Paralympic events.

Instead, new 'automatic threat recognition' software will address any privacy concerns. Only suspicious images would be sent to a member of staff.
