POLICE TWEET TODAY: Greater Manchester Police (GMP) is ‘tweeting’ every incident it deals with over a 24 hour period. The force wants to give the public and politicians an idea of the workload officers face. Follow GMP on twitter @gmp24_2.

BOXER BUYS CHIHUAHUA: Ricky Hatton has checked out of The Priory and bought his fiancé a new dog. The Hyde fighter paid a visit to Dogs 4 Us in Swinton to buy Jennifer Dooley her present. Store manager Chris Hunter said Hatton had bought a dog from the shop before. “He has a shihtzu called Franny Lee,” he said.

KNIFED OVER MALTESERS PRANK: A woman knifed a man in the head after he put a chocolate Malteser down her trousers, Manchester Crown Court has heard. Rosemarie O’Shea, 37, lashed out at Thomas Clynes with a nine-inch blade after he put a Malteser down the back of her trousers for a joke. O’Shea admitted unlawfully wounding the victim and will be sentenced later.

SALFORD SINGER GETS OBE: Graham Nash has been appointed OBE for his remarkable career in music. Nash, 68, who found success with the Hollies and then Crosby, Stills and Nash, grew up in Salford but has lived in Hawaii for more than 30 years. Speaking after the ceremony he said: "I'm from Salford, from a very poor family and to have been on the journey I've been on since I was 13-years-old, when I wanted to be a musician - (the OBE) it's a highlight of my life.”

Out of the window weather forecast: It’s looking pretty dull. We suggest you stay in and read the police tweets all day.

I've been addicted to this GMP Twitter stuff all day. I had no idea that in Manchester, there were so many neighbourhood disputes, credit card frauds, cars blocking pavements and men 'acting suspiciously'. Notwithstanding the horse that wouldn't come back, the woman reporting the DSS for not having received her benefits and the man reporting his neighbour for putting rubbish in his bin. Remember, these are 999 calls. Astounding

Oh, then there's the dozens of abandoned 999 calls and a fair few people legging it out of hospital. Told you, addicted.
