MANCHESTER CITY MOVE UP: Manchester City are the biggest climbers (from 20th to 11th place)in a league of the world's richest football clubs, according to international accounting and consulting firm, Deloitte. Real Madrid topped the Football Money League table whilst Manchester United remained third.
MUM URGES KILLER TO HAND HIMSELF IN: The mother of Louis Braithwaite – a 16-year-old boy who was shot dead in Withington in 2008 – has urged her son’s killer to give himself up. She said: “Erase this horrible memory from your mind and mine and come forward before it is too late and this memory destroys you - it will eat you away.” A £50,000 reward is on offer for information leading to a conviction.
NO SMOKING NEAR HOSPITALS: Greater Manchester NHS Trust wants a change in the law to ban people from smoking in its hospitals and grounds. The trust runs Fairfield General Hospital in Bury, North Manchester General Hospital, the Royal Oldham Hospital, Rochdale Infirmary and services at Birch Hill, Rochdale. Chief executive John Saxby said: "The success of the national smoking ban within public buildings clearly demonstrates that firm and decisive action, backed by legislation, can lead to a significant change in behaviour, habits and culture."
BATHROOM LOCK-IN DURING BURGLARY: A mum and daughter were locked in a bathroom during a robbery on City Road, Hulme. Police are now appealing for information about the incident which took place on 29 December 2010. The gang ransacked the house, stealing electronic items before fleeing.
