CASTLEFIELD FAN PARK HELD OVER 13,500 PEOPLE to watch what was to be England’s final World Cup game on Sunday. The Hyundai Fan Park is one of 15 special World Cup venues across Europe and entry is free.

FANS GET £200,000 COMPENSATION and an apology, after police trapped them in a pub before a Manchester United vs Stoke City game. The eighty Stoke City supporters will each have a share of the compensation money, after officers banned them from the toilet at the pub in Irlam- instead telling them to “urinate in cups.” Under section 27 of the Violent Crime Reduction Act, police are allowed to give directions to individuals who represent a risk of disorder, however GMP later admitted to acting “erroneously”.

FANCY DRESS FUNERAL FOR FRANK SIDEBOTTOM: A private service will be held for family and friends of Chris Sievey- the man behind the comedy character Frank Sidebottom. The funeral will take place at Altrincham Crematorium on Friday and whilst there is no dress code, mourners are invited to wear fancy dress to celebrate the life of the comedy hero.

A MICHAEL JACKSON FLASH MOB marked the anniversary of the death of the singer on Saturday by performing the ‘Thriller’ dance outside HMV on Market Street. The routine was organised by Rochdale dance teacher Barrie English who runs Michael Jackson dance classes at Sunshine Studios in Manchester city centre.
