WOMEN VICARS FROM MANCHESTER are supporting a campaign to provide good quality, correctly fitting bras for homeless women. North West charity for the homeless and marginalised, the Mustard Tree, has paired up with city centre based lingerie boutique Lucile to launch Bosom Buddies 2010. Kate Davies of Lucile said: “We believe every woman is entitled to have a good fitting bra.”

MANCHESTER AIRPORT avoided volcanic ash this morning but was closed for 20 minutes by climate-change protesters. They were protesting about work taking place at the World Freight Centre. The protesters are part of the Manchester Plane Stupid group, there were six of them, which may well be the whole membership.

ONE OF MANCHESTER’s leading art galleries, Generation Pop, has won Best Retailer Initiative at The Greats Retail Awards 2010. The prestigious award ceremony, referred to as the Oscars of the retailing world, was held last night in central London. The independent gallery, which specialises in animation and fine art from film and television, received the award in recognition of its special events program which has recently included The Art of Star Wars.

Hope was the audience’s fave after two months of singing on the BBC’s Over the Rainbow show. She will lead the cast in an Andrew Lloyd Webber West End production due to be staged next year.
