COUNCIL CONTINUE COMEDY COURSES: In the same week that the council announced a voluntary redundancy scheme, it has emerged that a comedy course funded by the tax payer is restarting in East Manchester. Lib Dem Leader Cllr Simon Ashley said today: "If Labour still think that courses like this are still a priority when we are letting people go then they have got their priorities wrong."

EMPTY PLANES SENT TO TUNISIA: Three empty Thomson planes have left Manchester Airport bound for Tunisia to bring back British travellers trying to get out of the country due to increasing street violence. A Manchester Airport spokesman said: "Some people who were due to come back to Manchester will probably find themselves flying into other UK airports, as the priority is just to get people home.”

MANCHESTER TWEETS ALOT: Research by the Social Media Cafe reveals Manchester as having the third largest Twitter population in Europe, behind London and Paris. The social media interest site used a ‘Twittergrader’ tool to compile the top 100 locations worldwide which saw London finish in first place, Los Angeles in second and Manchester 35th. According to the site, the top Twitter user in Manchester is currently @sarahmillican75.

MANCHESTER FACEBOOK GAME BOUGHT BY US DEVELOPER: Manchester-based Playdemic, a social games company, has been bought by US firm RockYou for an undisclosed sum. Playdemic is understood to have 16 staff and is best known for Gourmet Ranch, a cooking/farming game for Facebook played by more than 500,000 monthly users.

Out of the window weather forecast: Is that an actual ray of sunshine or has someone installed a massive floodlight over Spinningfields?
