MURDERED SCHOOL GIRL FAILED BY AGENCIES: Twelve-year-old Tia Rigg, who was raped and murdered by her uncle in Manchester, was failed by child protection agencies, an independent inquiry has found. Tia was known to child protection agencies after being placed on the list before she was born. However, the case also stated the death of Tia was not predictable or preventable.
TRAFFORD CENTRE CLEANER BECOMES FACE OF NEW LOOK: Martyna Sobol, 25 who was spotted by scouts, cleaning up after customers in the Trafford Centre has become the face of British high street chain New Look. Polish-born Martyna from Bury had her first photoshoot in London and has landed a contract with a modelling agency.
TEACHERS STRIKE IN OLDHAM: More then a third of teachers at Crompton House School in Shaw, Oldham have joined the strike to protest against the school becoming an academy. However, the school believes that opting out of council control will improve pupils' education. The National Union of Teachers (NUT) is angry at the proposed changed as the school will be without a head teacher.
WOMAN ARRESTED OVER MYSTERY MISSING BABY: A 28-year old woman from Bury, has been arrested on suspicion of concealment. A call was made claiming a new born baby had been left on a road side. A blood stained blanket was found near the scene, but there was no sign of a baby. Detectives are quizzing the woman and medical examination are being carried out to reveal whether she is the mother of the child.
