Tuesday 17 June: Rangers invasion was a success, teenage Facebook party turns ugly and Shinawatra is wooing

Published on June 17th 2008.

AN OFFICIAL REPORT on the organisation of the Rangers fans invasion on Manchester for the Uefa Cup Final has been deemed a success by Manchester City Council. Sir Richard Leese, Leader of Manchester City Council, said: “The problems on the day of the successful UEFA Cup Final were caused by the drunken and criminal behaviour of a tiny minority unfit to be called football fans.”

A TEENAGE PARTY in Trafford turned into a riot after a friend of the 18-year-old birthday girl posted the invitation on Facebook. The fancy dress party at Flixton Football Club was gatecrashed by a gang who were kicked out but returned the next day to set fire to pallets at the back of the club. The incident comes less than a month after a family from Britain had their $8 million Spanish home vandalised after the owner's 16-year-old daughter put invitations to the party on social networking sites.

MANCHESTER has lost out on the title of Most Musical City to Liverpool. The Arts Council England’s ‘Take it away’ award looks across ten cities for the winner. Thousands of votes were cast and Liverpool came out as “a world-class destination unsurpassed for its hospitality, art, creativity and culture” according to Michael Eakin, Executive Director of Arts Council England.

THAKSIN SHINAWATRA is keen to recruit Brazilian star Ronaldinho to Eastlands this summer. In a press conference in Thailand, he said: “Everything is going well. We are wooing. We will keep wooing him.”

18 year old girl asks too many people to her party... so does Manchester Council!

How the hell do you connect putting a party on facebook with a gang turning up, leaving, then coming back the next day to set a fire? Sounds more like pretty standard scally wankers going a bit mad cause they got told to leave. I guess it's not sensationalist enough without the stranger danger of the net, remember everyone, lock up your keyboards and keep your kids safe!

Manchester is way better than Liverpool
