A FIRE ENGINE got stuck on rising bollards in the city centre on Monday morning. Two fire engines were driving into the city centre to carry out safety checks. The first vehicle passed over bollards on Cross Street, but the second got lodged. The bollards are not in operation between 7pm and 11am. The incident happened at 11.02am. No one was injured and an investigation into the crash is underway.
NINTENDO WII GAMES CONSOLES are been installed in several Greater Manchester care homes for pensioners. The idea is that sports simulators will help keep elderly people fit. It has been organised by Age Concern and Stockport Council. Margaret Brade, chief executive of Age Concern Stockport, told the BBC: "It is hoped that the project will give older people new physical and mental challenges.”
