A TEENAGER has been attacked in Chorlton. The 16-year-old girl was walking along Princess Parkway on Monday evening when a man grabbed her, dragged her onto Darley Avenue, where he raped her before walking away. Detective Sgt Lee Price said: “We are following a number of lines of inquiry to find out who committed this horrific crime.”
THE UNIVERSITY OF MANCHESTER was the location for the oldest recording of computer generated music, according to reports. The BBC captured a scratchy recording of Baa Baa Black Sheep and a truncated version of In the Mood in the Autumn of 1951. Paul Doornbusch, a computer music composer and historian at the New Zealand School of Music, told BBC News: “As far as I know it's the earliest recording of a computer playing music in the world, probably by quite a wide margin.”
CHRISTIE HOSPITAL is changing its name. The hospital, one of the region's best known, is changing its name to reflect the vast range of services provided. A spokesperson said: “It has become clear that the name Christie ‘Hospital’ does not reflect this integrated nature of the care, education and research or the provision of Christie services.”
