Monday 1 June: Preventing gangs, finding gadget man, rock in the church and Derek Hatton’s company goes bump

Published on June 1st 2009.

ACCORDING to the Manchester Evening News the Police are targeting up to 100 young men they fear may step into the shoes of the recently imprisoned Gooch gang. Apparently pictures have been posted on incident room walls, and known gang members are being kept apart to prevent them developing a new crime network.

CHESHIRE businessman Ian Griffin is being asked to give himself up for questioning over the death in Paris of his Polish girlfriend Kinga Legg. Griffin disappeared from the Paris hotel room where Ms Legg’s body was found last Tuesday. His Porshe 911 has been found at an address in Warrington. Griffin has had a string of businesses including the gadget shop in St Ann’s Street.

AN ALTERNATIVE In the City takes place in two interesting locations in Salford this week: The Sacred Trinity Church on Chapel Street and Blueprint Studios – where Elbow recorded the award-winning album The Seldom Seen Kid. The event is called the UNconvention and includes loads of gigs and lots of interesting debates, taking place from Thursday 4 June to Saturday 6 June. Acts include I am Kloot and Jesca Hoop, as featured in Sleuth on Confidential last week: panel members include Peter Hook, John Robb and Liam Frost. Check out wordpress.com

DEREK HATTON’s property company Morpheus Investments has promised to fulfil all promises with regard to purchases of villas or apartments according to the MEN Property. Morpheus failed last week with debts of £400k: the Hale-based company dealt exclusively with properties in Cyprus.

What the ****? Two crimes hardly makes a spree, nor can you call something relentless if it only happens twice. Talk about sensationalist.

New ranters only for a week......what about that? As for the policeman warning the lady not to go into Didsbury well that is typical and alarmist and ridiculous, the point should be go in and show the ****ers you are not afraid.

Erm, what shooting in Didsbury? Not only is it not in any news source, I haven't heard about it. Thus, it obviously didn't happen.

I do Ben, but for completely different reasons.

Asking him to give himself up is a great tactic, but surely doing something to catch him would be more effective?

Hmmm no mention of the Shooting in Didsbury on Saturday? Heard something about it from a friend yesterday, anybody know anything?

Jeeeeez... I was clearly being mock-arrogant, maybe I should add a smiley next time eh?! ;o)

Clearly, you were not as mock-arrogant as you thought

Well its probably not the most credit crunching of places these days but hey ho - it still attracts the shoppers

Its all very well and good showing people you're not afraid - but with a bullet in one's back I imagine it would be more than difficult. In all seriousness though, we all take a risk every time we leave the door that something untoward may happen, whether it be getting shot or hit by a bus for example! So wheres the point in worrying about going into Didsbury? Anyone remember the woman who got shot in the leg on King Street? Do we avoid that area like the plague now?

Alright East Lancs don't get your knickers in a twist! I saw a friend yesterday who recieved a text off a police officer friend saying not to go to Didsbury Village as there had been a shooting, I also have not seen anything on any news source, and that is why I was asking. Jeeeeeez

Oh well, if east lancs hasn't heard about it, AND it's not in any news source, it can't possibly be true. Maybe this may be something to do with it; www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/…/1118274_gunmen_in_robbing_spree…
