Friday 13 March: Are you doing something funny for money?

Published on March 13th 2009.

TODAY IS RED NOSE DAY so look out for people doing something funny for money across the city. If you happen to be driving along the M60 ring-road this evening you might see the Trafford Centre's blue dome turn red to resemble a big red nose. Money raised by Comic Relief helps poor, vulnerable and disadvantaged people turn their lives around across Africa, throughout the world's poorest countries and closer to home here in the UK. A MAN has been charged over the car hijacking and attack on Manchester City Council leader, Sir Richard Leese. The attack happened in January of this year in Burnage. Lee Curtis Sowe, of Moston, has been charged with handling stolen goods.

The Palace Theatre would be renovated to provide 19 weeks of performance to add to the Royal Opera and Royal ballet programmes in London. It's estimated that the refurbishment would cost around £100m and create more than 500 full-time jobs.

The supporter is alleged to have chanted “You're going home, you're going home” provoking the manager to lash out. Inter Milan have rejected the claim saying: "It was a very calm post-game experience.”
