CONGESTION CHARGING is set to be introduced to Manchester. The government is preparing to allow the congestion charging scheme which will mean drivers will have to pay to enter or leave the city. The scheme will start in 2013 if it gets the go-ahead. Two zones will be created, one at the M60, the other close to Manchester city centre. It will cost £5 to enter the city at peak times.
MINT ROYALE have topped the UK singles chart with their remix of Singin' in the Rain. The Manchester dance at reworked the song which was used by Britain's Got Talent winner, George Sampson for his winning dance routine. The single has knocked Rihanna off the number one spot.
SMOKING LOCK-INS are concerning environmental health chiefs who say they have unearthed the new trend in Greater Manchester. A number of pubs in Oldham have been closing at 11pm, locking the doors and then allowing customers to smoke. Fines will be handed to patrons who are attempting to get round the legislation with these lock-ins.
GARY NEVILLE has insisted Cristiano Ronaldo should stay at Manchester United. Neville told ITV Sport: “"He knows he's at the right club. The manager's made his position clear, so I don't see a problem with that. Sir Alex Ferguson has also spoken out about speculatin that the Portuguese winger wants to move to Real Madrid. He said: “These things always happen when players are away on international duty and are from obscure sources.”
