Friday 12 June: Ronaldo has a hernia, ammunition obsessor and Hazel Blears says sorry

Published on June 12th 2009.

A MAN who had over 21,000 rounds of ammunition in his house has been jailed for three years and two months. Christopher Pearson, 54, from Rochdale used his his house and a storage facility as a factory, was described as having a “chilling obsession with ammunition” after previously being arrested in 2002 and 2004 for gun and ammunition offences.

DESPITE A MINOR hernia injury, Christiano Ronaldo is confident his move to Real Madrid will go ahead. Describing his injury as “nothing to worry about”, Ronaldo said the deal, which was agreed last year, was “quite historic - £80 million is quite a sum of money”. Manchester United's owners, the Glazers, have said the decision to sell Ronaldo “was purely a football decision and nothing to do with the financial structure of the club”.

HAZEL BLEARS has apologised for being “cruel” to Gordon Brown. The Salford MP described her resignation from Cabinet just days before the European election as “regretful”, and her decision to wear 'rock the boat' badge as “stupid”. Denying a plot between her and James Purnell, who left shortly after, Ms Blears does not have the intention of re-entering government although the PM has accepted her immediate apology.

A SCHOOL TEACHER will appear in court today accused of sexual activity with a teenage boy. Religious education teacher, Madeleine Martin, 39, who taught in Tameside, is charged with 13 counts of causing the 16-year-old boy to engage in sexual activity in February.

The 'rocking the boat' pendent says everything about the self-indulgent Westminster bubble our elected betters live in - while people are losing their livelihoods up and down the country. Funny how it took Blears a few days spent back in Salford before she saw her folly.
