A SALFORD toy shop owner has been fined £400 for selling realistic imitation firearms. The 29-year-old pleaded guilty to stocking 84 toy guns at G3 Toys on Rugby Street. The Violent Crime Reduction Act bans the sale, manufacture or import of realistic imitation or replica firearms. The court has ordered that all items from the toy shop are destroyed.
ARSONISTS have targeted Manchester's new children's hospital a total of four times in a week. Damage to the £500m development next to Manchester Royal Infirmary totals at around £1/2m. Cardboard boxes had been set alight by arsonists. Security has now been tightened and CCTV footage is being studied.
A NEW ONLINE game is to show the impact of flooding on Manchester. The simulation game which has been approved by the government, puts the player in charge of all flood policy decisions. Manchester and Liverpool, have been digitally reworked to show how they would look if floods hit the areas. The game, named Floodsim, has been developed by computer game company PlayGen.
WAYNE ROONEY is set to miss the opening match of Manchester United's Premier League campaign on 17 August after picking up a virus. The 22-year-old contracted the mystery illness on United's pre-season tour of Nigeria. Sir Alex Ferguson told the BBC: “It's a virus he picked up in Nigeria and it's not a nice one. He's not been back in training yet. I doubt Wayne will be fit for the start of the season.”
