Tuesday 5 February: No bodies for Bishop, arrears fears and Benjani deal on

Published on February 5th 2008.

The BISHOP of Manchester has spoken out against controversial anatomist Dr von Hagen’s Body Worlds premier, which is due to take place in Manchester at the end of this month. The Museum of Science and Industry is hosting the corpse show and has been accused by the Church of marketing it as a family day out. The Bishop is also concerned that there will be a reduction in organ donors who see commercial public anatomy displays as a betrayal of medical trust.

MANCHESTER has been named the debt capital of Britain. A survey has revealed that 28.7% of households in the city are in financial difficulty. The results were assessed by information on mortgages, credit and store cards, loans and payment behaviour. The information will be screened in the ITV programme Repossession, Repossession, Repossession, on Tuesday evening.

A FOUR-YEAR-OLD girl is recovering after being trapped under a collapsed wall at St Elisabeth's School in Wythenshawe. The girl was rescued from the rubble but suffered a back injury. A school dinner lady was also injured and taken to hospital. An investigation into the collapse of the wall is now underway.

BENJANI MWARUWARI will be transferring to Manchester City, according to reports. In a turn-around of events, the 29-year-old may still be able to join City because the deal had already been completed before the January transfer window closed. However, the club still remain tight-lipped. A spokesperson told mcfc.co.uk: “Manchester City remain in contact with the football authorities regarding this potential transfer.”
