Friday 19 December: Organised terrorism, racecourse rejection and mumps are on the increase.

Published on December 19th 2008.

ROCHDALE-BORN Rangzieb Ahmed, 33, has been sentenced to life in jail today at Crown Court for his senior part in directing terrorism within a Manchester-based Al-Qaida death squad. This makes him the first person to be found guilty of organising terrorism in Britain. Rangzieb, who has been described as an “extremely dangerous man”, had direct links to al-Qaida’s third in command. Rangzieb was described today by Det Chief Supt Tony Porter to be “at the centre of the al Qaida web.”

A TEACHER from Warrington has been found guilty for having a sexual relationship with an underage pupil. Mark Little, 28, has been jailed for five and a half years and banned for working with children again for six counts of sexual activity with a girl under the age of 16. Little was caught out when the girl’s friend told court that she had seen ‘hundreds of texts’ from the teacher.

BLUEPRINTS for a £100 million racecourse in Salford have been rejected by the council’s planning committee. The plans made by Peel Holdings to build ‘Salford Forest Park’ on 2,000 acres of woodland would ‘threaten road safety and ruin green belt land’. The Salford Forest Park would have included an 18-hole golf course and 6,000-seat stadium.

THE HALTH PROTECTION AGENCY (HPA) in the North West has claimed that the number of teenagers and young adults getting mumps has been increasing in Greater Manchester. There have been 27 cases in the past week, compared to a weekly average of 10-15 cases.

Thanks. I would have been so upset if you watched that visual labotomy inducing narcotic of a tv show.

I'd be interested to know how much younger than 16 the girl was...kids aren't stupid these days.

Don't tell me you watch Hollyoaks Emma. You seem like such an intelligent girl too. There's only one thing worse than watching it and that's being in it. Which I was, as an extra. Shoot me now. Also, I don't mean to be fussy but isn't it spelt 'Al Qaeda'?

Guilty as charged I'm afraid...that's what too much Hollyoaks will do to you
