Wednesday 8 July: Sex pests exposed, headteacher suspended and motorist trapped

Published on July 8th 2009.

A 47-YEAR-OLD MAN who plied his 14-year-old victim with alcohol as part of his “calculated plan” to have sex with her, has been jailed. Manchester Crown Court heard that in June 2008 the girl went missing and was befriended by Comrie, from Blackley. In July, the predator took his victim back to his home and “manipulated” her into having sex with him. The court sentenced Comrie to two and half years and ordered him to sign the sex offenders’ register.

MANCHESTER CITY COUNCIL has suspended a headteacher in charge of five special needs centres. The sites include: Meade Hill school in Blackley, Southern Cross school in Chorlton, Castlefield education centre in Hulme, the Southfields centre in Northenden, and the residential Buglawton Hall school in Congleton. Asif Arif was suspended just months after Buglawton Hall received a damning report from inspectors, who found a number of failures, including racist bullying.

THE HEAVY RAIN YESTERDAY caused a motorist to be trapped in his car for over an hour. The BMW 320i cut out under a railway bridge on Crossley Road, near the McVitie's factory in Heaton Chapel, Stockport, at 8am. The owner had to wait for the 2ft-deep water to subside as a tow truck was unable to reach the car.

A 29-YEAR-OLD MAN from Surrey has been arrested following three sex attacks on dog walkers in Bramhall Park. The man is being held on suspicion of attempted rape and sexual assault on the women aged 58, 61 and 74.

Mark, as it was a BMW the chances are the water may have not entered the vehicle. On balance if my car hadn't let any water in I might wait a while too.Although it's unlikeley as I drive a 1.0 VW polo on an N plate. If I did the same thing then I dont have to go through the whole laborious insurance process.Makes sense to me.Silly boy

"The owner had to wait for the 2ft-deep water to subside" = Trapped? WTF?? Just open the bloody door, step into the water, and hey presto, your no longer trapped! What is the world coming to?What a fool!Oh, sorry, just read, he was in a BMW. No surprise then, god forbid a BMW driver would get their trousers wet!
