SIR RICHARD BRANSON is planning to open a Virgin healthcare clinic in Manchester. The proposed polyclinics would be NHS led but run by private consultants. Doctors opposition have said that the service could be the start of the privatisation of the NHS. Branson has said they are currently exploring sites in the city.
AN EXOTIC FISH DISH has been taken off the menu at Francs restaurant in Altrincham after three diners suffered from food poisoning. Chef, Nicholas Banks served Mahi Mahi fish believing he had followed correct food hygiene procedures, however they still contained traces of a toxin. The restaurant was fined £2,265 after it admitted to failing to ensure the necessary controls and monitoring were in place for the storage of a `scombroid' fish.
RIO FERDINAND is to star in a new British gangster movie with US rapper 50 Cent and British actor Danny Dyer. He will also be joined by fellow England team mate, Ashley Cole in the film called Dead Man Running. Filming has begun in London and Manchester. Ferdinand recently said he had wanted to be an actor if football had not worked out for him.
CITY STRIKER BENJANI has spoken about City's 3-0 victory over Aresnal on Saturday. He told mcfc.co.uk: “Sometimes, if you win games like we did against Arsenal, you think you are the best but we have got to work hard to win the next one. This week will be the toughest week of the season so far, but the win was the perfect way to prepare for it. Three wins this week would be great.”
