A STUDY costing £1.4m is to be conducted on inmates at prisons in Greater Manchester to access whether their diet affects their behaviour. 1000 inmates, including convicted murderers, will be monitored to see if vitamins, minerals and fatty acids have any effect on levels of violence, drug-taking and suicidal tendencies.
AN EX-LANDLORD has been fined £10,000 for defying the smoking ban. Nick Hogan, who ran the Swan Hotel in Bolton was fined after environmental health officers witnessed his customers smoking inside his pub on four occasions. He told court that customers had made their own decision. Bolton Council has said that they did everything possible to resolve the issue with Hogan before prosecution.
OFFICE LINGO will be getting some new additions this year according to Manchester based recruitment agency, Office Angels. Jargon including ‘blamestorming’ meaning guessing who is to blame and ‘boss-spasming’ meaning to look busy when your boss appears, are to become the new buzzwords. Also listen out for ridiculously overcomplicated phrases such as ‘inter-departmental liason facilitation,’ also known as lunch.
UNITED are set to face their Premiership rivals Arsenal in the fifth round tie. The two teams have met 12 times in the history of the competition with results of five wins each and two draws.
