<B>Tuesday 26 May:</b> Deansgate disruption, inmates get intimate and more church lead theft

PART OF DEANSGATE will be closed from the end of the week due to gas works. Drivers should expect disruption between the junctions of St Mary's Gate, Bridge Street and Bridge Street West as engineers renew a section of gas main. The work is expected to take around nine weeks and traffic will be diverted along Blackfriars Street, Chapel Street and New Bailey Street.

A PRISONER serving life for murder, has given birth to a baby girl after becoming pregnant with an inmate at another jail. Lisa Healey has served ten years of a life sentence for her part in the murder of a pensioner in Failsworth and was allowed out on day release. The father, Michael Dent was serving time for drugs offences at an open prison in Doncaster. Healey and her baby are now both behind bars in the mum and baby unit of Askham prison.

A CHURCH NEAR HULME may be forced to close following a spate of lead thefts. In the latest raid at Christ Church in Monton Street, Greenheys, £20,000 worth of the metal was stripped from the roof. The church insurers have now reduce the cover for lead.

30,000 MANCHESTER UNITED FANS are traveling to Rome ahead of the Champions League final tomorrow. An alcohol ban is in place around the Olympic stadium and at airports and railway stations. Plain clothed Football Intelligence and uniformed police officers have been stationed at the airport from Monday and will remain there until the game is finished.

Where's the big ManCon Champions League final preview etc etc? Surely it's a big event for the city and something to be proud of, whether you're Red or Blue or any other colour of the rainbow.
