<b>Friday 14 March:</b> Chief’s body released, shop’s sweet tooth and Foster makes his debut

THE BODY of Chief Constable Michael Todd has been released to his family in order for funeral arrangements to be made. The inquest into the death of Mr Todd was adjourned yesterday. However the coroner did comment that “there was no evidence this man had jumped from height or sustained any significant injuries.” The Deputy Chief Constable, David Whatton, has now taken the role of acting Chief.

BURNAGE FOOD STORE has been fined after mice teeth marks were found in chocolate bars. Shop owner, Inayat Ullah, 73, has been fined £7,500 after admitting five counts of breaching food hygiene regulations. The council officer also noted mouse dropping and urine in the inspection in July last year. At the time, the store was forced to close but re-opened six days later.

ROAD DELAYS are expected along Deansgate and surrounding streets as work starts on replacing Victorian water mains. United Utilities will be replacing pipes beneath Quay Street, Peter Street, Manchester Central, Byrom Street, Great Ancoats Street, Market Street, Oldham Road, Rochdale Road, Port Street, Ducie Street and Lever Street. The work begins on Tues 1 April and will continue for 3 months.

BEN FOSTER will take the place of Edwin van der Sar in the match against Derby on Saturday. Sir Alex Ferguson is confident he will do well in his Reds debut. He told manutd.com: “Having been out for the best part of a year it's a big challenge for Ben. But I have no fears. He will be ok.”
