THE DEBT-RIDDEN OWNERS OF THE LIVING ROOM are set to go into administration. After failing to sell the trendy bar for £50m, Trafford firm Premium Bar and Restaurants will appoint administrators today, with redundancies expected. The flagship bar on Deansgate will stay open, although others around the country have already closed.
A POLICE OFFICER has appeared in court accused of murdering his fiancée who was also a police constable. Martin Forshaw, 27, an officer with Cheshire Police, is accused of murdering Claire Howarth, 31, of Greater Manchester Police. Miss Howarth died following a car crash in Bolton on 7 May, days before the couple were due to marry. Mr Forshaw, from Bury, did not enter a plea and was remanded in custody at Manchester Crown Court. He will reappear on 5 October.
RAIL PASSENGERS should expect littered carriages this month as railway staff begin a month-long campaign of industrial action. The action is amongst staff at Arriva Cross Country, which includes services from Bournemouth to Manchester. In a bid to raise their pay, workers will take forms of action short of a strike, including refusing to pick up litter.
POLICE HAVE ARRESTED three people in Rusholme after recovering a loaded firearm made to look like a pen. Officers stopped a man who was seen acting suspiciously on Wilmslow Road early this morning and found he had the pen gun containing bullets. Two men, aged 33 and 40, and a 50-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm.

I genuinely don't expect there to be a noticeable difference when conductors undertake their litter strike.
